Weird timewarp during a thunderstorm

Something really weird happened to me last night. It all started when I was woken up in the middle of the night by a loud thunderstorm. When I looked at my alarm clock, it said it was 2.18am. The thunderstorm was really noisy with lots of bright flashes of lightning, so I thought I may aswell lay in bed awake until it passed, as I find it difficult to sleep through loud noises. I laid there awake with my eyes closed, although I did open them whenever there was a big bolt of lightning which lit up the whole sky, just so I could see how bad it was. Every couple of minutes or so I leaned over to sip a bottle of water at the side of my bed to cool myself down and quench my thirst as it was very hot .

When I thought the storm had been going on for about 10 to 15 minutes, I decided to look at my alarm clock again. To my absolute surprise, it said 3.20am. Where did the other 45-50 minutes go?! The storm was still going strong, and I didn’t feel that I had fallen back to sleep during those lost minutes. Then all of a sudden I started to feel really hungry. I got out of bed and I went downstairs to the kitchen to get a slice of bread. By the time I went back to bed again, it was 3.40am and the storm had pretty much died out, so I went back to sleep fairly quickly after that.

When I told people about it this morning, as I was wondering where those lost 45-50 minutes had gone, they said that I must have fallen back to sleep during the storm without realising it. But the storm was so loud and I am such a light sleeper (it doesn’t take much to wake me up at all) that I think it is very unlikely this was the case. When I woke up this morning, I felt really tired and my eyes were sore, (the way I feel when I’ve only had about 6 hours sleep), so I think I must have been wide awake during those lost minutes that I just can’t account for. Weird.

I promised I’d update again today…

…so here goes! It’s been another busy few weeks for me, yet again.

The Townhouse restaurant where my Mum works re-opened as a carvery nearly 2 weeks ago. We went there as a family on the opening night, and the food is really good. I even prefer it to the carvery at The Cottage restaurant. The quiz night has started up again, every Thursday evening, although there’s no more curry. We plan to go every Thursday for the quiz, taking it in turns to pay, so at least I can look forward to a nice roast dinner once a week! :)

On Saturday (not the Saturday just gone but the one before that), I went to Wymondham with Terry and we had a milkshake and a cake in the cafe and then I went to the bookshop where I bought 3 second-hand books about ghosts! I’m still busy reading them now.

My Dad and step-mum in Thailand have just opened up their own travel agency called Canary Travel. I’ve been designing a website for them – you can visit it here. This is one of the main reasons why I’ve been so busy over the past month or so, but it’s pretty much completed now.

This site will be re-launched soon

For some reason, I’ve been finding it very difficult to motivate myself to update this blog very often. I think it is probably because I have been so busy recently. However, I just had a look back at some of my old blog entries from 2004 and early 2005, and it seemed that in those days I used to update on average 7 times a month! That seems totally unbelievable now! :( My entries back then were short and sweet, covering what had happened over the preceding 2 or 3 days or so. I think I will have to go back to that format again, as since January this year I’ve been providing on average just one update a month. I get so busy that I just seem to let all the news mount up, until I end up with so much news that I feel overwhelmed about typing it all up!

I’ve got a holiday coming up on the 16th August, for 2 weeks to Pickering in North Yorkshire. :) I really need a holiday, as I haven’t had a holiday away from home for nearly a year now. I had breaks from work at Christmas and Easter, and all the other national holidays but it’s just not the same as staying away from home for a few days. I’m hoping I will come back feeling refreshed, and I will have some fresh ideas for revamping this blog and hopefully adding new features.

It’s getting quite late now and I have to be up for work in the morning, so hopefully I will provide a more detailed update (about what’s been happening in my life over the last 3 weeks) tomorrow evening, as long as I don’t get caught up doing something completely different!
