As you may have noticed, I’ve finally got round to transferring the content from my old site to this new WordPress one (see the You section and Fun and Games section links on the left). That’s because today is a bank holiday, so I thought I’d have a good go at working on my website. I return to work again tomorrow – it will seem weird going back to work after being on holiday for over 2 weeks, and getting back to the usual routine.
Yesterday we went out to Banham Zoo – with Mum, Terry and my grandmother. Although we didn’t arrive until mid-afternoon (we didn’t wake up until quite late) we had a good time and managed to see most of the animals.
I’ve now downloaded my holiday photos from the digital camera, so I’ll put a few up here, although the plugin only allows you to have 2 photos per blog entry. I suppose I could make a whole page for my photos.
The first picture is of the rock stream which was at the bottom of our garden, and the second is of a lake in the valley of a mountain (known as a tarn).

I arrived back from my Lake District holiday at about 5.30pm today. I had a really good time – on the second day of the holiday we climbed up a high mountain (about 2000 feet high, according to one of the leaflets), which gave us brilliant aerial views of all the local lakes and other scenery.
Another day we visited the Muncaster Castle, where one of the bedrooms is alledgely haunted, but sadly, I didn’t see or feel anything out of the ordinary.
Having said that, the room did appear spooky, due to the colour of the walls (a garish bluey-green), and the fireplace had devil-shaped ornaments on either side. Also, none of the people on the pictures of the wall were smiling, and the owners of the castle said that these are the reasons why the room does not have a very nice atmosphere.
Yesterday, our last full day, we visited an aquarium, and we went on a steam train to another village, which was interesting. Overall, I really enjoyed this holiday.
This year, we spent more time exploring the scenery and going on walks, whereas last year we spent several days going round the stately homes, museums etc. That was good as well, but if you’ve been to them once, you don’t really need to go again. I also took several photos and short movies with my digital camera. I have used a plugin called Image2Site in order to display a picture at the top of this entry, and I hope to put up more pictures soon.
Whilst I was on holiday, I moved servers (to Toastyhost), and the transfer seems to have taken place with no problems. I had arranged for this to be done just before I left for my holiday, but as my renewal date fell during my holiday, my new host agreed to transfer my files across for me, so that there was no downtime.

I am getting up at about 6am tomorrow morning to get ready for my holiday. We will be leaving early in the morning. It is very unlikely that I will find a computer with internet access up in the Lake District, so this will be my last blog entry for the next 2 weeks. I return home on the 27th of August.
The last 2 days have been good – as I said in my previous entry, I went to see some local bands with my friend Kay last night – there were actually 4 bands playing, and it was really good. Today I went to see my friend Gemma – we showed each other our graduation photos, and then we went to a local restaurant for a drink and a packet of crisps.
I can’t believe my holiday is very almost here!!

Woohoo! It’s just 2 more days to go until my holiday in the Lake District, which I have been looking forward to for most of the year.
Earlier this evening I had a bit of a fret, as I noticed that some of the databases on this domain were broken. I received an email from TheFanlistings.org, saying that my Lake District fanlisting has been placed on the troubles list, because the pages weren’t working. It took me ages to sort it out, and in the end I just decided to create a brand new database and re-insert all the data into that. I don’t know what could have caused the problem, but it’s lucky that I keep frequent backups of all my data. But it’s all OK now, thank goodness.
Before I go off on holiday, I’ve got quite a busy couple of days. Tomorrow evening I should be going with my friend Kay and her boyfriend to see a band called Rawkus. She hasn’t yet told me when and where to meet up, so I hope we are still going.
Then on Friday evening, I will be seeing my friend Gemma. I don’t get to see her very often, as she is studying at a school up north. She is on her summer break now, so I will be able to see her and talk about what’s been happening in my life lately, and she also wants to see my graduation photos.
As for my holiday, we will be leaving early Saturday morning, and hopefully we will arrive in the Lake District in the early afternoon. It shouldn’t take as long as it did last year, as we will drive via a quicker route. Now that I have started work full time, holidays have taken on a new meaning. We are legally allowed 20 days’ paid holiday leave per year (this includes bank holidays). Of course, you are allowed more than that (within reason), it’s just that you will only get paid for the first 20 days. This contrasts with my old school and university holidays, where I used to get around 100 days off per year, so it’s a bit of a culture shock.

I can’t believe it’s only 11 days until our holiday in the Lake District! I’m really looking forward to it.
Last Saturday it was my niece Anya’s 11th birthday, so we went to the cinema to see the film Madagascar. It was pretty good. She also had some of her school friends round.
Not a lot else has happened recently, but the most exciting thing is that my holiday is coming soon!
